The Black Hammered Brass Pendant belongs to a lineage of Moroccan lighting that goes back generations. A single sheet of solid brass is raised over a wooden form, hammered into its dome, then punched by hand with hundreds of openings following a pattern the artisan knows by memory.

The outer surface is blackened and hand-rubbed so the hammer marks catch the light; the interior is left raw and polished, so the bulb bounces a warm golden glow through every perforation. Lit, it draws a canopy of pattern across the room. Unlit, it reads as a quiet sculptural object.

Made to live with

Solid brass does not flake or peel like plated finishes. Over the years the blackened surface softens and the high points warm to a deep bronze — a patina you can keep or polish back at any time.

Where it works

Hung low over a kitchen island or dining table, in a stairwell where the pattern can travel, or in pairs above a long counter. Supplied with adjustable chain or cord so the drop can be set on site.

Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Solid brass develops a warm patina over time — many customers prefer it. To restore the original shine, use a non-abrasive brass polish and buff gently along the grain. Avoid household chemicals and abrasive pads, which scratch the hand-hammered surface.

Made-to-order pieces leave our Fez workshop within 5–10 business days. Every order ships tracked and insured worldwide, with free shipping over $50. Unused items in original condition can be returned within 14 days of delivery.

Behind the Craftsmanship

Shaped by hand, one piece at a time

Every piece begins as a flat sheet of solid brass. Our artisans in Fez and Marrakech raise it over a wooden form, hammer it by eye, and punch each opening by hand — techniques passed down through generations of Moroccan metalworkers.

Because nothing is stamped or machine-finished, small variations in tone and texture are part of the work. They are what make your piece yours.
